It is interesting to me that while the sudden death of Milosevic is top news at both BBC and CNN, and I'm sure elsewhere, the more grass roots opinion of Newsvine has it should be below more mundane World News stories. In truth, I think, this is a genuinely huge story.
At the very least, the event offers numerous options to speculate on new conspiracies. How benefits from Milosevic's early death? Who from the failure of his trial? Who from the embarrassment of the tribunal?
More importantly, this event throw syet more doubt and concern over efforts to internationalize the law and justice systems. It is likely that Milosevic will be found to have died due to poor health reasons, but the failure of this so-called "international court" to successfully complete his trial shows how far away we are from a world where leaders of countries can truly be held responsible for their actions.
Is it still true that the leaders of countries can only be held responsible by their own peoples?
